Looking for a beautiful staycation this summer or fall? Check out The Cottonwood Hotel in the Blackstone District!
HISTORY
The Kimpton Cottonwood Hotel is the modern reimaging of the Blackstone Hotel, which was first built in 1916, and achieved icon status during the 20s when it was known as a luxury stop-off between San Francisco and Chicago. It remained successful into the 70s, and became home to loads of history. JFK and Jackie Kennedy spent their fifth anniversary at the hotel, and Richard Nixon announced his presidency from the rooftop ballroom in 1967.
These days, the hotel is a modern stay for guests of all kinds, while still maintaining precious Omaha history within its walls.
AMENITIES
The Cottonwood has loads of amazing amenities, including a fully-equipped fitness center (with a Peloton!), a resort-style pool, hosted social hours in the lobby, pet-friendly accommodations, and valet parking.
RESTAURANTS & BARS
Another piece of history lay in the food of Blackstone, where legend has it that the Reuben sandwich was invented by members of a poker league nicknamed "The Committee." Fast forward to 2022, and The Committee Chophouse is the hotel's premier fine dining steakhouse, serving dinner Tuesday-Sunday.
Two other in-hotel bars serve luxurious libations, bountiful breakfasts, and afternoon tea.
POOL ACCESS
The Cottonwood pool is not open to the public this summer, so if you're interested in taking a dip in the crystal blue water, relaxing in the hot tub, or sunbathing in cozy lounge chairs, you'll have to become a member or be a guest at the hotel. What a good excuse for a staycation!
