Council Bluffs River's Edge Riverfront Development

A Treetop Walk, Adventure Tower, and more are coming to Council Bluffs River's Edge Park, just over the Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge!

ABOUT River’s Edge Phase 4 Riverfront Development is a privately funded project in collaboration with the City of Council Bluffs, right across the river! With an estimated budget of $50 million, these plans aim to improve and expand the amenities north of Tom Hanafan Park. Plans for the Iowa Riverfront development include the Treetop Walk, Mid-American Adventure Tower, a pier, a dog park, playgrounds and more! All of the River's Edge Park north amenities, including the treetop walk, will be built above the flood zone, at the levee system's elevation, to allow opportunities for use when the Missouri River levels fluctuate.

TREETOP WALK Starting at the foot of the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge that connects Nebraska and Iowa, the treetop walk's elevated pathways wind through the park's north side, offering visitors a bird's-eye view of the Missouri River and the Omaha skyline. The half-mile-long loop will include educational components, promoting environmental awareness and appreciation for the region's biodiversity. Additionally, the walkway will be able to connect to the Mid-American Energy Adventure Tower! ADVENTURE TOWER Mid-American Energy Adventure Tower will be a 138-foot-tall observation tower with multiple platforms on different levels taking visitors above the trees to experience the expansive and unique river, woodland, and city views. An adventure course will provide challenging outdoor activities, including an outdoor 50' climbing wall, simulated caving experiences, and a roll-glide ride. Visitors can also climb through 400 lineal feet of simulated cave environments, making this a great activity for locals and tourists alike!
