Start a new activity this summer with Lake Manawa Sailing School, located just outside Omaha in Council Bluffs. They offer everything from sailing lessons and racing opportunities to memberships, sailboat parking, and even a women’s sailing group. Whether you’re a beginner or have some experiences, there’s something for everyone. It’s the perfect way to get outdoors, enjoy the sun, and spend time on the water this season!
MEMBERSHIP & CLASSES
LMSS offers a variety of classes and courses throughout the summer, including Introduction to Sailing for adults and youth, Beginning Sailboat Racing, Sail 2 for more experienced sailors, and Zest Refresh to brush up on your skills. Class dates and times vary, so be sure to check their website for the full schedule and to sign up.
You can also join with a membership, which includes access to launching facilities, club boats like kayaks and canoes, and members-only amenities such as a library, shower, shop, beach toys, and a private pavilion. Members can also reserve boat parking, attend social events, participate in races, and join Windward Women, a group that offers support and community for women interested in sailing.
LOCATION & HOURS
Lake Manawa Sailing School is located just outside Omaha in Council Bluffs at 812 Comanche St. Their season runs from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. They are open weekdays from 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM and weekends from 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM.
