Tucked away in the Old Market, La Buvette Wine & Grocery is one of those places that feels like it’s been part of the neighborhood forever—because it has. Since 1991, owners Mark and Vera Mercer have been welcoming locals and visitors alike into this intimate, European-style wine bar, cafe, and grocery. The space blends effortlessly into the Old Market’s eclectic charm, offering a cozy spot for conversation, a glass of wine, and bites you won’t find elsewhere in town.
You can browse the shelves lined with wine bottles, artisanal groceries, and fresh bread, then settle in at a table indoors or out on their awesome patio.
FOOD MENU
La Buvette keeps their food offerings as classic and unfussy as the atmosphere, with a focus on French-inspired dishes and simple ingredients done well. The menu has two sides: a daily selection you can count on, and rotating specials that change occasionally.
Expect to see plates like roasted beets with goat cheese and house vinaigrette, Boeuf Bourguignon, or anchovy-topped bites that pair perfectly with a glass of wine. Bread is baked daily using traditional Parisian methods, so naturally, you’ll find cheese and charcuterie options to snack on, as well as deli items that are ideal for assembling your own picnic. Food service starts at 11:30 am daily and runs until an hour before closing.
WINE & DRINKS
The wine selection at La Buvette is a major draw, and it works a little differently than your typical bar. You can order wine by the glass, or browse the shelves, pick out a bottle, and enjoy it at your table with just a small corkage fee. The collection leans heavily on French and European wines but includes domestic options as well, with styles ranging from crisp whites and rosés to bold reds and sparkling varieties.
If you’re not in the mood for wine, La Buvette also offers self-serve beer from the grocery coolers, mixed drinks, coffee, tea, sparkling water, and soft drinks. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick glass or spending the afternoon sampling bottles, the relaxed, no-reservations vibe makes it easy to settle in.

La Buvette Wine & Grocery is located at 511 S 11th Street and operate on a walk-in only basis, with no delivery or takeout for food. They are open Monday to Thursday 10am-10pm, Friday and Saturday 10am-11pm and Sunday 11:30am-9pm!
