Music, Storytelling & Movement with Nebraska Crossroads Music Festival
We are partnering today with Nebraska Crossroads Music Festival, which brings musicians from around the world to the state for performances in multiple locations Jul 22 through Aug 2. Join us for end-of-summer fun with a musical storytime program, poetry workshops and performances, family concerts, art making in the Studio, and gallery activities.

A look at the fun this month from 11 am–2 pm:
• Begin at our Welcome Table in the Hawks Pavilion! Pick up a program and map for the day. We can let you know about membership opportunities, upcoming programs, our Bloomberg Connects digital guide, and Art Card self-guide resources. We also can help with any accessibility needs.
• Join us for a Musical Storytime featuring musical performance and audience participation. Led by storyteller and flute player Marie Sonderskov, with the help of Olga Smola, violin, Oscar Rios Pohirieth, pan pipes and percussion, and Erik Higgins, gamba.
• Matt Mason, former Nebraska State Poet, leads a 30-minute storytelling and poetry workshop for youth, 4th grade and older.
• Listen to a Family Concert inspired by folk music traditions featuring Erik Higgins on amplified viola da gamba, Marie Sonderskov on baroque flute and vocals, and Olga Smola on violin. Gentle sounds for all ages.
• Enjoy a Poetry Performance featured talented young poets from Nebraska, led by current and former Nebraska State Poets Jewel Rodgers and Matt Mason.
• In the studio, create your own Blackout Poetry and incorporate it into a work of art.
• Check out our Art Cart station, with opportunities to touch hands-on materials and talk about art with our friendly Gallery Volunteers.
• Join a public tour, led by our Gallery Volunteers; 11 am, Made in the Plains; and at 1 pm, Meet The Joslyn. Free, drop-in experiences.
• Due to the generous support of Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program, “Made in the Plains” tickets are free to all today; always free to Joslyn members.
• The Founder’s Room is designated as a quiet space for this event, stocked with an array of books and games.
• Don’t forget to check out more great spaces—The Cafe offers food and drink for sale. The Shop has beautiful art items for all ages and interests. If you are part of an intergenerational group, be sure to visit Art Works: A Place for Curiosity, an interactive space with nine different art activity stations (children must be accompanied by adults).
