The Omaha Community Playhouse is thrilled to present the Pulitzer Prize winning drama, Angels In America – Part Two: Perestroika, opening Friday, October 10 and running through November 9, 2025 in the Howard Drew Theatre.

The powerful conclusion to Tony Kushner’s groundbreaking theatrical masterpiece, Perestroika follows the critically acclaimed Part One: Millennium Approaches presented by the Omaha Community Playhouse last season (2024/25). Perestroika continues the journey through the lives of a group of interconnected New Yorkers navigating politics, religion, sexuality, and the AIDS crisis during the tumultuous 1980s.

Tony Kushner’s visionary script challenges and inspires, blending realism and the supernatural. Enter a world of ghosts, angels, and humans trying to survive – and love – in the face of chaos. Perestroika is bold, funny, moving, and unforgettable.

In addition to the Pulitzer Prize, Angels In America won the 1993 Tony Award, Drama Desk Award, and Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Play.

Brandon Box-Higdem directs the production, his first at OCP since joining the theatre as Associate Artistic Director earlier this year. Perestroika features the returning cast from Part One and original music by Thomas L. Wilson, Music Technology Instructor at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

While Perestroika is the second in the Angels In America series, Part Two stands on its own. OCP has curated a Part One refresher on its website, including a synopsis, directors notes, and character descriptions.
