Step into History at the Durham Museum in Downtown Omaha!

ABOUT
Step back in time and explore Nebraska’s rich history at The Durham Museum, located inside Omaha’s historic Union Station downtown. This popular spot brings the past to life with engaging exhibits that dive into the region’s history, culture, science, and industry. It’s also a fantastic place to bring the whole family for a day of educational fun and hands-on exploring. Thanks to their partnerships with Smithsonian Institution and Library of Congress, National Archives, and the Field Museum, you’ll always find something educational and entertaining to check out!
Throughout the year, the Durham also hosts exciting travel exhibits and festive holiday events, from spooky Halloween fun to magical Christmas celebrations and more!
EXHIBTS
The Durham’s exhibits rotate throughout the year, so there’s always something new to discover, but their permanent exhibits are just as fascinating. Step into the Suzanne and Walter Scott Great Hall, where the beautifully restored art deco architecture from the original Union Station waiting room will take your breath away. You can also hop aboard real train cars from the 1940s and 50s, including a Pullman car, lounge car, and caboose. You can even get an up close look at a massive steam engine to experience the golden age of railroad travel!
Kids will love the replica storefront where they can play and pretend, while history buffs can explore exhibits that show powerful first-hand stories of immigrants who settled in Omaha and helped shape the community. Don’t miss the Byron Reed Collection, filled with rare coins, maps, books, and historical documents.
